Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham organization has put out a short movie clip focusing on the importance of decisions, specifically the decision to follow Christ Jesus! It's got me thinking about decisions.
Decisions have a ripple effect--like a pebble in a pond. You throw the pebble in the pond and it disappears, but the ripple effect impacts the entire body of water. Decisions are like ripples on the water of life.
When you make a decision, it doesn't simply effect that one moment of your life, it continues to have an affect on you, your family, and your children after you. That's why decisions are so important!
At New Life, we have been focused on discipleship! Let me just pause to say that the very best decision you could ever make is to follow Jesus and begin to build your life on his teachings and way of life. This Sunday we will be thinking about fruitful discipleship and decisions! I wonder if we might be more fruitful for Christ and His cause if we would step up and make a decision?!
For too many Christians, we just go through the motions and life sort of passes us by--we never really make a decision, we just go with the flow. I have a hunch why we fail to make decisions at all. AND remember, no decision IS a big decision! My suspicion comes from looking at my own life and the lives of others. We tend to play it safe and live life for ourselves. Basically, we make decisions that serve us or we try to avoid the big decisions all together.
But, what if we made a decision to follow Christ, to get involved with His cause, to start a ministry, launch a business, or get some more education or even change our marriage or our finances? What if we threw a pebble in a pond and stepped out on a new venture and believed God to use us to change someone's life for the better? What if we made a decision and followed through with that decision? I hope you will. I plan to make a decision!
